Human Activities started the international conference series titled The Matter of Critique, referring to the material conditions of critical artistic engagement.
Through its conferences, Human Activities brings together academics, artists, and economists, as well as the Congolese plantations workers to discuss the artistic, critical, social, and economic scope of its activities in Congo. After organizing the Opening Seminar in 2012, Human Activities initiated in 2015 its first international conference in KW Institute for Contemporary Art in 2015. The second edition took place in Lusanga the same year. The third edition of The Matter of Critique took place on 22, 23 and 24 September 2016—again in Lusanga.
The fourth edition of The Matter of Critique took place in SculptureCenter, New York on January 29, 2017.
